CH Navan’s Triple Trouble Rick |
|
Bred by Nancy Vanstrum Cannon out of her first show litter, "Dawg" is the older brother of the more famous Ch. Navan's Triple Trouble Rick. Topping out at 13 1/4", Dawg started out as a 13" finishing at 6 months of age in 3 shows, including wins at the Bay State Beagle Specialty and Best In Sweepstakes, in 1971. At 10 months of age, Dawg won BOV at Westchester NY and had a few group placements, but mainly concentrated on successfully completing his obedience title. Dawg only competed as a 13" for 2 months of 1972, receiving several group placements including on the heavily contested Florida Circuit in January 1972. Once moved to 15" and shown sporadically, although competing with much larger dogs he continued to hold his own and do well in both breed and group competition. In fact in 1972 nationally, Dawg was #3 13" and #5 15". After that Dawg headed out to see the world, visiting Canada, Columbia, and the Dominican Republic where he did exceptionally well and we had a really good time. Always my best buddy, Dawg always accompanied me to shows despite the fact he was no longer being shown. He never knew he was a dog and his limited show career was nothing compared to the years of joy he brought to my life as my friend. |

Blood Line of Champions 1 |

"Rick" BIS/BISS 15" beagle that has to be the one dog that most people consider to be one of the best beagles ever produced. As the sire of 54 Champions and untold grandchildren, he probably is the single beagle from Navan that most influenced the breed. He also is the beagle to have most influenced Nancy Cannons breeding program, as well as the dog to have held her heart. Even many years after his death, Nancy could still feel his loss as if it were yesterday. Rick's record stands at - 2 National Specialty Best of Breeds wins (1976 & 1976), 7 All Breed Best in Shows, 54 Groups 1's, 31 Groups 2's, 22 Group 3's, 12 Group 4's and was a Best of Variety Winner at Westminster Kennel Club. Rick was known for his sweet loving temperament, and enjoyed playing with his children and grandchildren into old age. |
