Beagle History

Dating back to 200 AD, the beagle was created to hunt/trail small game, like rabbit and hare, by scent.  The development of the breed took place mostly in Great Britain.  The American Beagle was imported to the United States early in its history.

Beagle Colors

Any hound color is acceptable to the American Kennel Club and National Beagle Club.  Hound colors include any combination of white, black, tan, lemon, red, brown, liver, blue, grey.  But the color that must people associate to the Beagle is the black, tan, and white tricolor.  The second most recognizable combination is the red and white, also known as lemon and white.

Beagle Noise

Beagles are not necessarily loud or excise barkers, but can become noisy when left alone and become bored.  Mostly they are howlers, kind of like a waining sound to get attention.

Beagle Life Span

Beagles can live between 10 to 15 years.  With a good diet and special care a Beagle can be a companion for a very long time.  The Beagle begins to mature and become a great dog sometime after the age of two.  The first two years, I call the terrible 2s, are fun but also frustrating at times.
